Overview
The Department of Planning and Landscape Architecture at Clemson University has received a Community Development Work Study Program (CDWSP) grant totaling $88,005. This grant will assist economically disadvantaged and minority students in obtaining their Master of City and Regional Planning (MCRP) degree.

The focus of the MCRP program is to provide a solid education in planning to qualified and motivated students to meet the needs of the State of Carolina and the nation. The 2-year program allows a generalist approach with the flexibility for concentration in specialized areas. A substantive core emphasizes the general framework, theories, methods and applications of the planning process. A primary objective of the program is to attract, educate, and place economically disadvantaged and minority students in careers in community/economic development, city/regional planning, and public administration.

All work placement assignments will be involved in community building and will be an agency of a state or unit of local government, an areawide planning organization, an Indian Tribe, or a private nonprofit organization involved in community building activities. Agencies expressing interest in CDWSP at Clemson include Anderson City Planning Department, City of Clemson Engineering Department, Greenville Urban League, and the Neighborhood Housing Corporation.
