| Case Western Reserve University, in partnership with Cleveland State University and Cuyahoga Community College, will address the needs of five Cleveland neighborhoods. Three of these neighborhoods -- Fairfax, Hough, and Glenville, are in the City's Supplemental Empowerment Zone. In addition, the HOPE VI neighborhood and the St.Clair-Superior neighborhood will be included in the COPC.
Activities to be undertaken include: building the staff capacity of empowerment zone organizations through training and mentoring; creating a career path for residents in community development and family development; providing assistance to the five "business organizers" housed in community development organizations in their efforts to provide Zone employers with access to capital and technical assistance; and establish at least 150 community service jobs a year for community residents in community based organizations.
