Overview
The 2002 Community Development Work Study Program (CDWSP) grant will provide assistance to three students in the Master of Public Policy program at Duke University. This professional degree program provides a broad-based foundation in the quantitative, analytical, and managerial methods essential to success in a variety of public services careers. CDWSP fellows compliment their rigorous coursework with field placements in agencies and organizations either located in the neighborhoods surrounding Duke University or supporting revitalization efforts though the Duke-Durham Neighborhood Partnership Initiative. Each student will have at least one rotation in a supporting organization the Duke-Durham Neighborhood Partnership Initiative, one rotation in a grassroots community organization, and a summer internship in a community development organization. CDWSP provides an attractive option for minority and economically disadvantaged students who are interested in attending a private institution but cannot afford the expenses.
