| Duquesne University will focus on two neighborhoods--East Liberty and the Hill District--in Pittsburgh that have been the focus of significant investment by the city. Activities which are planned include: mediation training, job opportunities, and counseling for youth to decrease violent gang behavior; preventive healthcare for senior citizens; marketing, financial, and legal services for local development corporations and businesses to support real estate and business development; and strengthening community institutions.
These activities involve a partnership between the university neighborhood-based nonprofits and local government. Dissemination of the activities will be through Neighbor LINE, an online computer system available throughout Pittsburgh's neighborhoods.
