| The Fitchburg State College Community Outreach Partnership Center (COPC) is designed to assist in establishing and carrying out research and outreach activities which address the problems of the college neighborhood and citywide. COPC, a HUD funded project, works with an advisory committee of community partners, local government and college participants.
Research is focused in five areas: · Need assessment surveys, collection of data and analysis of community planning initiative in Cleghorn and College Hill. · Data analysis of community health needs and services to be provided by a community health center in partnership with Fitchburg Safe and Healthy Neighborhood Coalition. · Research and analysis of present micro-enterprise development in Cleghorn and citywide and the long-term impact on residents' standard of living and economic impact. · Research on value engineering/sustainable affordable housing linking FSC's Industrial Technology Department's construction management program and the Geophysical Science Department geographic information systems with the Twin Cities CDC. · Formative COPC evaluations and research on COPC's management and institutionalization.
Outreach activities include: · Neighborhood Organizing and Planning/COPC Mini-Grant Program/Citizens' Leadership Institute · College/Community Computerized Neighborhood Network · Marketing/Outreach for Community Health Center · Fair Housing Informational Sessions and a Homeownership Opportunity Program · FSC COPC Small Business Support Center · School Mentoring and Career Development · Families First Self-Sufficiency Program and Job Training
