| Howard University, a Historically Black University in Washington, DC, has been awarded $400,000 in Community Outreach Partnership Centers Program (COPC) funding to undertake applied research and outreach in the Shaw, LeDroit Park, and Pleasant Plains neighborhoods adjacent to the University. All of these neighborhoods are in the City's Enterprise Community. Activities to be undertaken include: entrepreneur development, youth mentoring, community development activities to strengthen the Georgia Avenue Community Renaissance Initiative, and a Campus of Learners project with a nearby public housing development. Over $2 million will be provided in matching funds from the University and its community partners.
